Johnny Gill – Wrap My Body Tight (CD Maxi Single – 1991)

•July 5, 2011 • Leave a Comment

This single is one of the very few for which I prefer the European version than the original US track (also included in the album).

In this case, Jazzie B. in the remake version provided a great alternative especially for the chorus where some female background choir was added that made the song much more vibrant than the original. Additionally violins were added all through the remake version realizing a song that is difficult to say was originally produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

Enjoy!

1 Wrap My Body Tight (12″ Remake Version) 5:00
2 Wrap My Body Tight (7″ Radio Edit) 3:45
3 Wrap My Body Tight (Soul Mix) 4:48
4 Wrap My Body Tight (Instrumental) 5:01

Paula Abdul – Forever Your Girl (Promo CD Single – 1989)

•June 11, 2011 • 2 Comments

Quite basic sound for this single following “Straight Up” success.

It is strange that the label decided to release such an anonymous track like this one after “Straight Up” that, in my opinion, had a very innovative sound at that time being.

By the way this 1-track-only promo single is quite rare. Enjoy!

TLC – Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg (CD Maxi Single – 1992)

•June 2, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Debut single for one of the most prolific female groups of the 90’s.

In my opinion this is one of their weakest release as chorus is monotonous and repetitive through all the song. Several versions of the song were released including a “smoothed down” and less chaotic  version for US radios.

This release was reissued in 2001 preserving the original CD Maxi Single release.

1 Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg (Album Version) 5:39
2 Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg (Smoothed Down Radio Remix) 4:37
3 Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg (Smoothed Down Extended Remix) 5:53
4 Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg (Dallas’ Dirt Mix) 5:56
5 Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg (Left Eye’s “3 Minutes And Counting”) 5:47
6 Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg (Rap Version) 4:52

The Boys – Dial My Heart (12″ Remixes – CD Single – 1988)

•May 27, 2011 • 1 Comment

First single of the most prolific and skilled “baby” group of the 80’s. Their talent was expressed the most in the self-produced single “Crazy” which I believe is still one of my favorite track of the early 90’s.

Dial My Heart instead, was produced by L.A. Reid & Babyface with their unique and popular drum beat that filled the club for the following 10 years.

This version includes a sort of “Thank you” instrumental version where the singers prise all the people that contributed to their success until then.

1 Dial My Heart (12″ Heart Version) 6:37
2 Dial My Heart (7″ Edit) 4:16
3 Dial My Heart (Morning Madness Thank You Mix) 5:07
